Several Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights were cancelled on Tuesday owing to a lack of funds, according to ARY News
According to a source, a number of domestic flights to and from Karachi were cancelled because the national flag airline failed to pay Pakistan State Oil (PSO) for fuel supply.
According to sources, the cancelled flights include Karachi-Muscat and two-way domestic flights from Karachi to Faisalabad, Islamabad, and Lahore.
Flights from Karachi to Turbat, Bahawalpur, and Sukkur have also been cancelled, according to airline sources.
According to insiders, the national flag carrier has requested emergency funding from the government.
It was previously reported that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is planning to ground more planes due to the present financial situation.
Flight suspension looms over the PIA, as 15 additional aircraft will be grounded if the amount is not paid within two days.
According to PIA sources, if the funds are not provided, flight operations will be disrupted, with over 30 planes scheduled to be grounded.
The monies are required by the national airline, but the caretaker administration has refused to release them.
