Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi Re-Arrested Outside Adiala Jail.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been rearrested by Punjab police outside Adiala Jail.
This comes after his release on bail in a cipher case. The release followed a plea by the police to end the 15-day detention orders imposed on the former foreign minister under 3-MPO.
Qureshi was initially arrested by RA Bazaar police in connection with a General Headquarters (GHQ) attack case. Yesterday, he was detained in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail for 15 days under 3-MPO.
The cipher case revolves around a piece of paper that Imran Khan waved at a public rally on March 27, 2022, before a vote of confidence that he ultimately lost.
The former prime minister, alleging an “international conspiracy” to topple his government and naming the US, claimed the cipher as ‘evidence.’
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who was serving as the foreign minister at the time, was indicted in the case on October 23.
The case was initiated after Imran Khan’s then-principal secretary, Azam Khan, asserted that the former PM used a US cipher for “political gains” and to thwart a motion of no confidence against him.
