Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan’s ace left-arm pacer, has entered into the top ten of the latest ICC T20I bowlers rankings. Shaheen’s outstanding performance in the one-off T20I against Australia last week helped him climb four places in the rankings, from 14 to 10.
In the only T20I between the two sides, the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year took two wickets while conceding only 21 runs. Despite his explosive bowling, Australia held on to win the T20I.
Shaheen is the only Pakistani bowler to be ranked among the top ten bowlers in the world in all three formats of the game. In each of the three forms, no other Pakistani bowler is ranked in the top ten. He is one of just two bowlers in the world, along with Australia’s Josh Hazlewood, who is ranked in the top ten in all three forms.
Over the last year, the 22-year-old has been in outstanding form in the T2o format. Shaheen has 22 wickets at an average of 21.00 and an economy rate of 7.43 in 17 matches played in the format during the last year.
