At Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in the one-off T20, with the Aaron Finch’s encounter against Australia, Shaheen Shah Afridi has now taken 200 international wickets across all forms.
Shaheen currently has 47 wickets in T20Is, 59 wickets in ODIs, and 95 wickets in red-ball cricket, having taken 40, 29, and 40 innings to get there, respectively. 3/20 in T20Is, 6/35 in ODIs, and 10/94 in Test cricket are Afridi’s best bowling figures.
In the game’s last over, Afridi who took two wickets became only the fourth left-arm Pakistani bowler to reach 200 international wickets. Wasim Akram, Mohammad Amir, and Wahab Riaz are the other three left-arm bowlers.
Shaheen is also the third pacer at the age of 21 in history to capture 200 or more international wickets, and the fifth bowler overall to do so. Waqar Younis, Rashid Khan, Saqlain Mushtaq, and Irfan Pathan are the other four bowlers.
The visitors defeated Pakistan by three wickets while chasing a score of 162 runs in the previous game. Shaheen concluded his four-over performance with 21/2 wickets and only one run surrendered in the 19th over.
