Sheikh Rasheed, the former interior minister and leader of the Awami Muslim League (AML), has been arrested at his Rawalpindi home.
According to reports, Sheikh Rasheed’s counsel, Sardar Abdurrazaq, verified that the AML commander was arrested from his home by men in plain clothing.
He further claimed that two nephews of former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed had been arrested and taken to an unknown place.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) questioned former federal minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) head Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on September 11 in connection with the National Crime Agency (NCA) £190 million Scandal or Al-Qadir Trust Case.
According to reports, the former interior minister has been summoned to testify before the anti-corruption watchdog.
Earlier that day, on May 24, Sheikh Rasheed skipped NAB’s appearance for a probe into the £190 million National Crime Agency scam.
Sheikh Rasheed was summoned to testify before the NAB as a former member of Imran Khan’s government, which approved the £190 million settlement with the United Kingdom.
It is worth noting that the Awami Muslim League (AML) head and former interior minister stated that three people were sent to kill him.
He stated that his life was in danger and that three people had been assigned the duty of assassinating him. He encouraged Pakistan’s then-chief justice to take note of the situation.
