KARACHI: The government of Sindh has declared that the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transport project would be named after philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi.
Sindh Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has set a one-month deadline for the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transport Service to be operational.
Secretary Transport Sindh Abdul Haleem Sheikh, MD Sindh Mass Transit Authority Altaf Saryo, and other authority officials attended a meeting chaired by Sharjeel Memon. The minister wanted to know about all of the issues and obstacles in the Orange Line project.
He asked the Secretary of Transport Sindh to meet with the Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL) to speed up work on the Orange project. He also stated that he will meet with the Federal Minister of Planning Ahsan Iqbal to discuss the project’s execution.
He predicted that the Orange Line will be operating in a month, allowing residents of Orangi Town and the surrounding areas to travel safely and comfortably. The provincial minister was given a full briefing on the Sindh Mass Transport Authority’s mandate and mass transit projects during the meeting.
BRT Green Line Phase I is operational from Surjani Town to Numaish roundabout, while BRT Yellow, Orange, and Red Lines are in the implementation phase, according to a full briefing on Karachi Circular Railway, Blue Line, Brown Line, and other BRTs in the city.
