The Sindh Government receives 320,580 doses which is a portion of the 6.6 million doses the US sent to Pakistan.
The Pfizers jabs were sent by US through the COVAX facility. This tranche is fourth in line of vaccine doses delivered to Pakistan. The total number of vaccine doses donated by the United States to Pakistan now stands at a lofty 16 million.
During the handover ceremony at the Sindh Government’s ultra-cold chain facility in Karachi both the US Consul General Mark Stroh and the Sindhi Minister of Health and Population Welfare Azra Fazal Pechuho were present. Consul General Stroh remarked on the occasion that he was proud to represent the people of the United States of America coming to aid the Pakistan people defeat corona virus. He reaffirmed the commitment of the two countries to cooperate fighting against virulent diseases and to pave the way for a better future for our younger generations.
Pakistan recorded upward of 2900 cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the current positivity rate at the time of writing is 5.67%,
United States has played an important role in helping contain the Covid-19 spread in Pakistan. Both countries shared their specialities to enhance disease monitory, lockdown methodology, laboratory testing and frontline health worker support.
