Pakistan Railways has announced a special train service to accommodate attendees traveling to Garhi Khuda Baksh for the 17th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. The event will take place in Larkana on December 27.
According to the official notification, the special train will depart from Lahore on December 26 at 1:00 PM, arriving at Shah Nawaz Bhutto Station at 4:30 AM on December 27. The return journey will begin at 7:00 PM on the same day, with the train reaching Lahore at 9:20 AM on December 28.
Security and Holiday Arrangements
To ensure security during the event, the Sindh government has requested aerial surveillance support from the federal government. The provincial Home Department has formally approached the federal interior ministry for a helicopter to monitor security arrangements in Garhi Khuda Baksh.
In honour of Benazir Bhutto’s legacy, the Sindh government has declared December 27 a public holiday. A notification confirmed the closure of all government and semi-government offices in the province. However, banks will remain operational.
Commemorative Rally Planned
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has organized a major rally at Garhi Khuda Baksh, where Benazir Bhutto is laid to rest. Prominent PPP leaders, including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former President Asif Ali Zardari, are set to address the gathering.
Leaders and dignitaries from across Pakistan are also expected to attend the event, making it a significant occasion to remember the contributions of the former Prime Minister to the nation’s political landscape.
