Scholarship Overview:
East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is expanding its International Merit Scholarships program to support new international students seeking degrees. All applicants to ETSU are automatically considered for these scholarships based on academic excellence, with no separate application required.
Undergraduate Scholarships:
- Blue Scholarship: $5,000/year (Minimum GPA: 3.0)
- Gold Scholarship: $7,000/year (Minimum GPA: 3.5)
- Elite Scholarship: $9,000/year (Minimum GPA: 3.75)
Graduate Scholarships:
- Masters Merit Scholarship: $5,000/year (Minimum GPA: 3.0)
- Doctoral Merit Scholarship: $9,000/year (Minimum GPA: 3.0)
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be admitted as a degree-seeking student at ETSU.
- Must hold or plan to obtain an F-1 or J-1 student visa.
- Must meet the minimum GPA requirements (3.0 or higher in relevant previous coursework).
Scholarship Duration:
- Undergraduate: Up to 8 semesters (4 years), subject to maintaining eligibility.
- Graduate: Up to 5 semesters or the length of the specific graduate program.
Note:
- Scholarships cannot be combined with other awards covering out-of-state/international tuition costs.
- Examples of incompatible scholarships include the Creative Arts Scholarship, STEM Community Outreach Scholarship, Honors-in-Discipline Awards, Graduate Assistantships, and Tuition Scholarships.
- Fulbright Grants are considered separate funding and may be combined with this Merit Scholarship.
