The Supreme Court of Pakistan has scheduled a hearing on January 10 for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) plea to restore the ‘bat’ symbol as its electoral symbol.
PTI’s intra-party elections were nullified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on December 2, rendering the party ineligible for its traditional symbol.
The ECP cited non-compliance with election regulations as the reason for the decision. PTI challenged the verdict in the Peshawar High Court, leading to the current appeal in the Supreme Court.
The Chief Justice expressed concern about PTI’s numerous cases and summoned Hamid Khan, the party’s lawyer, to appear in court. The hearing is now set for January 10.
