Pakistan’s cotton production increased by 79.9 percent to 3.93 million bales in September this year from 2.19 million bales in the same period last year, reports WealthPK.
The significant increase in this cash crop’s production is indicative of an increasing emphasis on productivity growth, which is positive for exports and the economy as a whole in FY2024.
Muhammad Akbar, Scientific Officer at the Central Cotton Research Institute, Multan told WealthPK, “The surge in cotton production is a testament to the nation’s resilience and potential in the agriculture sector.”
According to him, the production surge might help the economy and the cotton sector rebound in the coming year.
The output of cotton has increased dramatically as a result of the use of contemporary agricultural techniques including precision farming, genetically modified seeds, and effective irrigation methods. Farmers are using technology to increase yield and cut down on resource waste.
