Pacer Zaman Khan, who showcased his skills in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has secured a spot in English county cricket as he joins Derbyshire County Cricket Club for the T20 Vitality Blast tournament this summer.
Known for his impressive bowling speed of up to 90 miles per hour, the young fast bowler has participated in 49 T20 matches, taking 59 wickets at an average of 23.35. His best figures in a match are 4-16. He made his international debut earlier this year during the away series against Afghanistan and has played in six T20Is with an excellent economy rate of 6.66.
In the PSL, Zaman Khan played for Lahore Qalandars when they clinched the trophy on two occasions. Additionally, he was part of the winning squad, Jaffna Kings, in the most recent edition of the Lanka Premier League.
Derbyshire officially announced that Khan will join their squad before the end of May for the county stint.
Mickey Arthur, Derbyshire’s Head of Cricket, praised the talented young pacer, highlighting his T20 success worldwide.
“Zaman Khan is a highly promising young fast bowler from Pakistan, and his experience of triumph in T20 cricket around the globe will contribute to our team’s aspirations,” Arthur stated.
Arthur also expressed his excitement in welcoming Zaman for their T20 campaign, noting the bowler’s impressive performance during his recent international debut.
Zaman Khan himself is eagerly anticipating the opportunity to play in England, particularly under the guidance of Mickey Arthur.
“Playing in England has always been a desire of mine, and having the chance to work with Mickey Arthur at Derbyshire is like a dream come true,” Zaman shared.
He further expressed his enthusiasm to play alongside the talented squad at Derbyshire, acknowledging the team’s commendable performances in T20 cricket over the past few years. Zaman looks forward to the challenge of competing once again this summer.
