Dhaka: Bangladesh cricket was left in shock after former captain Tamim Iqbal suffered a heart attack on Monday, March 24, 2025, during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match. The veteran cricketer was rushed to Fazilatunnesa Hospital in Savar, where he is currently under medical supervision.
Incident During the Match
Tamim, 36, was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club in a 50-over DPL match against Shinepukur Cricket Club when he complained of chest pain after the toss. Medical personnel immediately attended to him on the field before transferring him to the hospital for further evaluation.
According to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, initial tests suggested minor heart complications. However, his condition worsened while being moved towards a helipad for transport to Dhaka, prompting an urgent return to the hospital, where doctors confirmed he had suffered a heart attack.
