Prime Minister Imran Khan, who also serves as the Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), proposed Mr. Asad Ali Khan and Ramiz Raja to the Board of Governors (BoG) on Friday, using his authority under clause 12(1) of the PCB Law.
Voting will now be conducted to select the next PCB chairman from the two that have been proposed.
In this respect, the PCB’s Electoral Director, Mr. Justice (retd) Sheikh Azmat Saeed, has scheduled a special meeting of the Board of Governors for Monday, September 13th, at 1100 in Lahore to elect the 36th PCB Chairman.
Sheikh Azmat made this choice during his first meeting, which took place on Friday afternoon at the Gaddafi Stadium. During the discussion, he also requested that notices of the extraordinary meeting be distributed to the members of the BoG.
Mr. Aasim Wajid Jawad, Ms. Alia Zafar, Mr. Arif Saeed, and Mr. Javed Kurieshi (all independent members), and Mr. Wasim Khan are the other five members of the BoG. (PCB Chief Executive).
Meanwhile, Ramiz Raja told Geo News a day earlier that he was notified of his appointment as the new chairman of the board via a communiqué from the Prime Minister’s Office.
“I will give a press conference after being chosen — as the next chairman — by the board of governors,” Raja told the news source, adding that he had many ideas for PCB.
Ehsan Mani had already distanced himself from resuming to serve as PCB chairman on Thursday. He also stated that he is no longer interested in serving as PCB chairman.
