A major development for Pakistan for formally joining the Madrid Systems to protect the Pakistani trademarks in 124 member countries making it easier for brand owners to get protection in the export markets.
Pakistan has been enrolled in the Madrid Protocol with WIPO’s Director General Daren tang of Geneva, making it the 108th member in the Madrid system.
With the enrollment to the Madrid Protocol, The trademark holders could be able to protect their trademarks in the member countries just by filing a single application to the World Intellectual Property Organization [WIPO] whereby encouraging dextrity whilst doing business.
After the system being effective from May 24th in Pakistan the local brand owners can begin using the Madrid System for the protection of their trademarks in the 123 territories of the systems’s other 107 members can file a single international application along with a set of fees.
Mr. Daren Tang said the entrepreneurs in Pakistan will be able to benefit through a simple registration from the Madrid systems. As well as Individuals whose personal brand is known around the world.
