ISLAMABAD – Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rasit Meredow has arrived in Pakistan for a significant three-day official visit starting today, July 22. This visit aims to bolster the diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
During his stay, Foreign Minister Meredow will engage in comprehensive discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Additionally, he is scheduled to meet with key Pakistani leadership to discuss the multifaceted relationship between Pakistan and Turkmenistan.
The talks will encompass a wide range of topics, including bilateral relations and important regional and global developments. This visit is seen as a pivotal opportunity for both nations to enhance their cooperation and address mutual interests.
This diplomatic engagement follows the recent visit of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev to Pakistan earlier this month. During President Aliyev’s visit, the two countries agreed to increase bilateral investment up to $2 billion in mutually beneficial projects. The agreements and memorandums of understanding signed during this visit covered diverse sectors, reflecting the broad scope of cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, speaking at a joint press conference with President Aliyev, highlighted the commitment to strengthen economic ties. “We have discussed an initial figure of $2 billion of investment in areas of mutual beneficial projects,” said Prime Minister Sharif. He expressed optimism that during his upcoming visit to Azerbaijan in November, both nations would be prepared to sign agreements worth $2 billion, marking the beginning of extensive economic collaboration.
The Prime Minister underscored the potential for significant growth in bilateral trade and investment. “In today’s in-depth conversation, we have agreed to enhance our bilateral trade besides discussing areas of joint cooperation and joint investments,” he added.
The visit of Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rasit Meredow is expected to further cement the relationship between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, exploring new avenues for cooperation and ensuring mutual benefits for both countries.
