The President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has issued directives for a significant change regarding the name of Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Effective February 9, 2024, in conjunction with the official opening ceremony of the new Terminal A, the airport will be officially renamed Zayed International Airport, as announced in an official press release. Terminal A is designed to accommodate up to 70 aircraft at once and is anticipated to handle more than 40 million passengers annually.
It’s worth noting that Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan played a pivotal role in the history of the United Arab Emirates, serving as the President since the formation of the Federation on December 2, 1971, and as the Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi since 1966.
