University Student Discovers Oil Reserves in KP. A groundbreaking discovery has been made by a University of Punjab MPhil student, Noman Zeb, who has identified significant oil reserves in the thousand-year-old limestone mountains of the Kohistan salt range.

Noman Zeb, a dedicated geology student under the supervision of Dr. Shahid Ghazi, pinpointed these substantial oil reservoirs in the areas of Khajar, Taral, Badshahpur, Kroli, and Sarhi, as reported by Daily Naibaat. These areas are characterized by their ancient limestone sediments, which hold considerable amounts of oil.

Zeb’s meticulous research extends beyond Kohistan, indicating similar geological formations in the Potohar Range. He highlighted that with proper government oversight and extraction methods, a substantial quantity of oil could be harnessed from these reservoirs. This discovery holds the potential to significantly alleviate the country’s power shortage, providing a much-needed boost to Pakistan’s energy sector.

The implications of Zeb’s findings are profound, offering a promising avenue for reducing reliance on imported oil and enhancing the country’s self-sufficiency in energy production. The utilization of these oil reserves could play a crucial role in addressing the ongoing power crisis, fostering economic stability, and promoting sustainable development within the region.

As the government considers the potential of these newly discovered oil reserves, Zeb’s work stands as a testament to the pivotal role of academic research in uncovering valuable natural resources and contributing to national progress. His discovery not only marks a significant milestone in the field of geology but also opens up new opportunities for energy production and economic growth in Pakistan.
