The US has denied issuing a travel advisory for Pakistan, despite the country’s continuous political upheaval.
In response to a fake “travel warning” for Pakistan, the US State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) stated that no travel advisory for the country was issued in June. For the past few days, a bogus travel warning has been circulating on social media platforms, asking US individuals of Pakistani ancestry to avoid using the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) when traveling to Pakistan.
“NICOP should not be used if traveling to Pakistan from the United States or Canada.” Instead, obtain a Pakistani visa on a US/Canadian passport,” stated the bogus travel alert.
“We are aware of a circulating fake travel warning.” “As a reminder, all of our alerts and messages to US citizens in Pakistan are posted here [at the US embassy’s website],” it continued.
