The United States has pledged to enhance the security partnership between Washington and Pakistan. Speaking at a press briefing, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller emphasized that the security partnership with Pakistan remains a top priority and will continue to be so.
Miller stressed the importance of upholding the rule of law in Pakistan, stating, “We want to see everyone in Pakistan treated according to the law. We support the rule of the constitution everywhere in the world, and we will continue to monitor all aid programs.”
Regarding India, Miller called for a thorough investigation into the murder of a Sikh leader from New Delhi. He urged India to expedite the investigation process.
The State Department spokesperson also highlighted the necessity of robust monitoring and reporting from partner organizations implementing assistance programs, especially in unstable and unfriendly environments.
Previously, US President Joe Biden reaffirmed America’s steadfast commitment to standing alongside Pakistan in addressing global and regional challenges. In his first letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Biden extended his congratulations and best wishes to the newly elected government of Pakistan.
President Biden emphasized the shared vision of prioritizing public health protection, economic development, and education. He reiterated the commitment to advancing these goals in tandem.
Underlining the significance of the enduring partnership between the United States and Pakistan, President Biden stressed that this partnership is critical for ensuring global security and well-being.
