The United States wants a wealthy and stable Pakistan, according to State Department chief deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel on Monday.
Patel told a news conference in Washington that a wealthy and stable Pakistan is in the interests of US-Pakistan relations. He stated that we are directly engaged with Pakistan on various subjects and that a statement cannot be issued at every diplomatic meeting.
In response to a query, Vedant Patel stated, “We engage directly with our Pakistani partners on issues that are important to the US and to broader regional security and stability.”
The US State Department official avoided addressing a question about Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who has been imprisoned in the United States for the past 20 years.
Dr. Fowzia saw her sister Dr. Aafia Siddiqui earlier this month in Fort Worth, Texas, where she is currently incarcerated, after a 20-year wait.
Clive Stafford Smith, a British attorney, escorted Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui to see her sister.
Aafia Siddiqui is currently being held at the infamous FMC Carswell jail, according to JI Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan. Dr. Aafia Siddiqui has been given permission to meet with her family.
