Ushna Suhail, Pakistan’s first and only female tennis player with a World Ranking, received the esteemed Billie Jean King Cup (Commitment) award from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in Kuala Lumpur.
Ushna Suhail is the first recipient in South Asia and one of only two players to achieve this recognition. The other is Ankita Raina, ranked 200 in the world from India, while Sania Mirza of India received the BJKC (Heart) award.
Ushna expressed her gratitude to the Pakistan Tennis Federation and President Mr. Salim Saifullah Khan for their unwavering support for women’s tennis. She sees this international award as a significant honor for Pakistan and her family. “I cannot thank the Almighty enough for this recognition,” she added.
Ushna expressed her immense joy, mentioning that her parents made the journey to Kuala Lumpur to be part of the ceremony. She described the award as a culmination of a lifetime of dedication, involving not only her own relentless endeavors but also the support of her family, coaches, mentors, the Pakistan Tennis Federation, and the prayers of the Pakistani people. Ushna is committed to pushing herself further and aiming for additional achievements on the global stage.
