The National Assembly, chaired by Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri, opened its session at Parliament House in Islamabad on Monday.
After former Prime Minister Imran Khan was ousted as a result of a no-confidence vote, the House is prepared to elect a new leader. The unified opposition is represented by PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, while the PTI and its allies have selected Shah Mahmood Qureshi for Prime Minister.
Taking the floor, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said that he will boycott the election for House Leader. He said that the decision was made in a party meeting led by Chairman Imran Khan. He also announced resignations from the National Assembly on behalf of PTI members.
The PTI members eventually left the house.
