Vivo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has recently established an independent robotics lab focused on home robotics.
According to the company’s recruitment page, Vivo is seeking a chief scientist in robotics with exceptional expertise in embodied intelligence or robotics and strong leadership skills to guide a research team.
While entering the home robotics market, Vivo will not develop full-body hardware but will concentrate on enhancing the “brain” (AI) and “eyes” (vision) of robots, as stated by Executive Vice President Hu Baishan.
As early as December 2023, Hu had hinted at Vivo’s plans to venture into the humanoid robotics sector.
