The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has increased water tanker rates up to Rs400 for residential and commercial consumers.
The KWSB raised the price of a 1000-gallon domestic water tanker from Rs1300 to Rs1590.
Similarly to this, the price of a 1000-gallon commercial water tanker has jumped to Rs3124.
Residents will be charged Rs3900 and businesses would be charged Rs6240 for 5000 litres of water, respectively, by the KWSB.
Due to a recent increase in fuel prices, the water board raised rates.
The price of petrol was increased by Rs22.20 per litre on February 15 by the federal government in an effort to please the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for resurrecting the $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF).
Petrol’s price was raised from Rs249.80 per litre to Rs272.00 per litre.
High-speed diesel (HSD) is now priced at Rs280.00 per litre after an increase of Rs17.20 per litre. The cost of kerosene has gone up by Rs12.30, making the current price of kerosene oil Rs202.73 a litre. Similarly to that, light diesel is now priced at Rs9.68 more per litre, or Rs196.68.
