The weekly inflation report released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) shows an increase of 1.32% in the last week, taking the overall inflation rate in the country to 33.66%.
According to the report, the prices of 30 essential items have gone up, while the prices of 5 items have decreased. The prices of 16 items remained unchanged.
PBS data shows that the prices of petrol, diesel, and Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) have increased by 6.36%, 5.06%, and 2.33% respectively. The rates for a 2.5 kg box of Ghee have also increased by 1.64%.
Furthermore, the price of potatoes has increased by 2.57%. Additionally, the prices of garlic, eggs, yogurt, rice, sugar, milk, flour, and pulses have also increased by 5.06%, while the prices of tomatoes, onion, and daal mash have decreased in the last week.
Last week, the weekly inflation increased by 3.63 per cent during the week ended on June 30.
The SPI-based weekly inflation went up for the week ended on June 30, 2022, after registering an increase of 3.63 per cent and 32.1 per cent on-year to year basis.
Out of 51 items, prices of 28 (54.91%) items increased, 06 (11.76%) items decreased and 17 (33.33%) items remained stable.
