The World Food Programme (WFP) of the United Nations has successfully transported food into Gaza via the Israeli Kerem Shalom border crossing, marking the inaugural direct aid convoy from Jordan, as reported by AFP.
The 46-truck convoy’s arrival follows extensive coordination with all involved parties, according to the WFP. The organization emphasized the significance of this development, stating that it represents a pivotal initial phase that holds the potential to establish a more sustainable aid corridor through Jordan.
This corridor, if expanded, could facilitate the delivery of a larger volume of aid to address the humanitarian needs in Gaza.
