WhatsApp is apparently developing a new feature that would allow users to define message durations in both group and individual chats.
According to WaBetaInfo, the new message pin length feature will provide customers with a straightforward way to ensure timely and relevant information remains accessible for a specified period of time. When the timer expires, the message is immediately unpinned, allowing for a more organized, up-to-date, and clearer discourse.
The functionality is still in development and will be made available to beta testers in a future app version.
The message pin length will allow users to pick how long a message should stay pinned in a chat, according to the article. It also includes a screenshot of the feature, demonstrating how users will be able to specify a time after which the pinned message would be automatically unpinned.
It states that the feature will now give three alternative periods to its users: 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days. According to the article, users will be able to unpin the current pinned message at any moment, even before the time limit is reached, “giving users greater flexibility and control over their pinned messages.”
