Wheat prices in Punjab’s open market decreased by Rs1,200 per maund, after the increase in wheat quota and import.
The price of wheat per maund decreased from Rs5,200 to Rs4,000, according to market dealers. The price of wheat per kg in the open market has decreased from Rs130 to Rs100 as a result of the reduction of Rs1,200 per maund.
The increase in the government’s quota and the arrival of imported wheat, according to the sources familiar with the issue, are bringing down the price of wheat.
The market dealers are expecting a reduction of Rs300 to 400 per maund in the coming days.
The price of flour in open markets has decreased as a result of the Sindh government yesterday issuing flour mills a subsidized wheat quota.
As a result of the subsidized wheat quota to the flour mills by the Sindh government, the price of flour in Karachi’s open markets has decreased by up to Rs10 per kilogram.
In the open market, the rate per kilogram of wheat went down from Rs130 to Rs120. According to the Karachi Wholesale Grocers Association, the prices of chakki and fine flour were also reduced.
The chakki flour price is reduced from Rs160 to Rs150 per kg.
