Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the first phase of the Punjab Motorcycle Scheme 2024, aimed at distributing 20,000 bikes among students of degree colleges and universities.
The government has partnered with the Bank of Punjab to offer 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes through interest-free installment plans.
Initially, students from Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, and Lahore can apply for the Punjab Motorcycle Scheme until April 29. Interested students can submit their applications through the provided link.
Under the scheme, financing for electric bikes is limited to Rs250,000, while for petrol bikes, it is limited to Rs150,000. If a student chooses a bike exceeding these price limits, they will need to pay the additional cost upfront to the Bank of Punjab upon successful approval. The Punjab Government will not cover any costs beyond the specified limits, and students must select their bikes from the available options on the web portal.
Regarding queries about female students’ eligibility for petrol bikes, information on the official website confirms that female students can apply for both electric and petrol bikes. Both Scootie and Motorbike versions are available for female applicants. Similarly, male students can also apply for both types of motorcycles.
