World Coming Forward For Lebanon

The whole world is shaken aback due to the recent tragedy that has struck Lebanon. It resulted in a loss of numerous lives and very heavy financial losses as well. Lebanon is struck with the worst economical crisis after the Beirut port blast.

Pledges Taken By Numerous Countries to Provide Emergency Aid

A virtual conference to assess the measures to take for emergency aid for a disaster-struck Lebanon was held in the Western part of the world. Many countries participated to show solidarity for Lebanon including the USA’s President Donald Trump was held that was hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. Later on, a statement was issued that was jointly presented by 30 countries in which countries made pledges and donated that collectively amounted to tens of millions of dollars.

Emergency Aid to Be Directly Delivered

An excerpt from the statement included “The participants agreed that their assistance should be timely, sufficient and consistent with the needs of the Lebanese people, well-coordinated under the leadership of the United Nations, and directly delivered to the Lebanese population, with utmost efficiency and transparency.” The USAID acting administrator John Barsa even claimed to not send the money to the Labanese government.

Disaster-Struck Lebanon

The government of Lebanon is deemed as incompetent and corruption qand hence it has been reiterated again and again in the meeting that Lebanon is supposed to be fully committed in bringing the country back on its feet with respect to its political and economic damages.

The deadly port explosion in Beirut took place last Tuesday, which snatched away over 150 lives and left 300,000 people homeless and wounded 6,000 people. It has also left around 21 people missing.
