World Cup 2023: Pak vs. India tickets being sold for over INR5.7 million
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterLinkedinWhatsapp

The ticket sale window for the high-voltage showdown between India and Pakistan has seen increased demand from fans globally as the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2023 approaches.

The principal ticket sales outlets were totally sold out in less than an hour on both August 29 and September 3.

What has social media users enraged is that the secondary market for ticket sales has seen a considerable increase in prices.

According to Indian media sources, a South Premium West Bay ticket is presently advertised on an online sports ticket platform for an astounding INR1950,000.

The final two upper-tier tickets with an unobstructed view are being auctioned for an astounding INR5,700,000 each.

Everyone is outraged by the excessive charges, and social media users are putting the vendors to blame.

Twitter reacts

“What is going on?” On the website, World Cup tickets for India vs. Pakistan range from 65,000 to 4.5 lakh [450,000] “per ticket”! These corporations commit daylight robbery!”

This amount corresponds to approximately PKR250,000 to PKR1,660,000.

“Tickets are available for the #INDvPAK World Cup match,” another user commented. Take a look at the costs.”

“Bhai, have a look at this 4.7 lac [470,000]…I saw a ticket for 15lac [1,500,000] yesterday, and it’s now either sold out or removed off the app.”

How the hell does this website have World Cup tickets or is it a SCAM?

However, the India-Pakistan match isn’t the only one with skyrocketing ticket costs. Tickets for other matches are reportedly selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to NDTV.

Tickets for the India vs. Australia match, according to the publication, start at a whopping INR31,000 and can cost well over INR900,000.

Meanwhile, tickets for the India vs. England match can cost up to INR230,000.
