Javed Iqbal, a film based on the horrific story of a named serial killer who was sentenced to death in 2000 for murdering and mutilating 100 children, won the best director and best actor awards at the 2022 UK Asian Film Festival in London.
Yasir Hussain was present to accept the award for ‘Best Actor.’ On behalf of Abu Aleeha, he also collected the award for ‘Best Director.’
It is an “absolute honor” for Yasir Hussain and Pakistan’s film industry, according to him. He thanked the festival’s organizers for choosing this film as the festival’s opening feature.
“I would like to thank producer Javed Ahmed, and especially Abu Aleeha, the writer and director of the film,” he said, thanking the filmmakers.
The film, starring Yasir Hussain and Ayesha Omar, portrays the story of Pakistan’s deadliest serial murderer, who admitted to abducting, sexually abusing, and murdering more than 100 boys in Lahore between 1998 and 1999 before retracting his confession.
