Pakistan’s Mehwish Ali has triumphed at the Nordic Junior Open Squash Championship in Sweden, sealing victory in the final with a commanding straight-set win over France’s second seed, Ciara Boulanger, with scores of 11-5, 11-7, 12-10.
Entering the tournament unseeded, Mehwish’s journey was nothing short of remarkable. She kicked off her campaign in Group D, dominating Norway’s Vilde Odeh and Denmark’s Camilla Thomsen with emphatic 3-0 wins, paving her way to the knockout rounds.
In the quarter-finals, Mehwish faced a special challenge—her sister, Mahnoor Ali, in a hard-fought match. Displaying both skill and composure, she advanced to the semi-finals where she outclassed Belgium’s Alice Allard to book her spot in the final.
Mehwish’s victory in Sweden is yet another milestone in her rapidly rising career, adding to her bronze medal at the Danish Junior Open last month. Her continued success is a significant boost for Pakistan’s junior squash scene, marking her as a prominent future talent.
The Ali family had more to celebrate, as Mehwish’s sisters, Sehrish and Mahnoor, also impressed, finishing fourth and fifth in their respective categories at the Nordic Open.
