Billionaire rivals Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk exchanged online jabs once again, with the Meta founder suggesting that Elon wasn’t taking the proposed charity cage match seriously.
Zuckerberg made this remark on his Threads social platform, stating that it’s time to move on. He also mentioned that Elon’s responses were delaying the match, and instead of confirming a date, Elon suggested a practice round in his backyard.
In response, Musk quickly fired back on his platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), calling Zuckerberg a “chicken.” He stated that he would be heading to Silicon Valley to confront Zuckerberg, adding, “Can’t wait to bang on his door tomorrow.”
The two tech giants have been engaging in a playful back-and-forth about a charity match. Musk initially mentioned that the fight would take place in Italy, with authorities confirming discussions on hosting the event.
Zuckerberg countered with a photo of himself in a “backyard octagon,” asserting his readiness for the challenge and stating that he’d announce the actual date once Elon agrees to it. Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano confirmed discussions with Musk about organizing a charity event but clarified that it wouldn’t be held in Rome. He mentioned that the event would raise a substantial sum, which would be donated to two important Italian pediatric hospitals.
This exchange of banter comes after Zuckerberg’s Meta launched Threads, a platform similar to Twitter. Musk’s reference to needing minor surgery to resolve a shoulder issue sparked discussion, but he assured that the recovery would only take a few months.
